Meet the candidates
Don Bacon
Born in the Midwest, Republican Don Bacon attended college at Northern Illinois and graduated with a degree in Political Science. He obtained a Master's degree from the University of Phoenix and National War College.

Bacon then served in the Air Force for almost 30 years. winning multiple awards for his service.
​
In 2016, Bacon ran for Congress in NE02, and won against the Democratic incumbent. He was re-elected in 2018.
​
Bacon believes in conservative policies, such as anti-abortion and low gun regulations. He also feels Medicare should be abolished.
​
Bacon is married to his wife Angie, with 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

Kara Eastman
With a Master's in Social Work, Democratic Kara Eastman started a non-profit called Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance, which has become a nationally recognized organization that keeps Omaha houses safe and healthy.
​
She was elected to the Board of Governors of the Metropolitan Community College, making colleges safer through policies like banning tobacco use on campuses.
​
In 2018 Eastman lost to Bacon by only 2%.
​
Kara Eastman is married to her husband Scott, a history professor.
